What We Build
Alcove Shelving & Bookcases
The alcoves either side of a chimney breast are one of the most common requests we receive — and one of the most satisfying to solve. These spaces are almost always uneven, not square, or an awkward size. Off-the-shelf units never fit properly. A bespoke built-in fills the space exactly, with no gaps, no fillers, and no compromise.
Full-Wall Shelving & Display Units
A wall of bespoke shelving — floor to ceiling, wall to wall — is one of the most impactful things you can do to a living room. Display shelves above, closed cupboards below, and an oak worktop between the two. The grey media unit on our inspiration page is a good example of what this looks like in practice.
Freestanding-Style Built-In Units
Not all bookcases need to go floor to ceiling. We can design units that sit at a specific height — perhaps to a dado rail, or to match existing furniture — and look like they have always been part of the room.
Display Units with Glazed Doors
Glass-fronted cupboards keep dust off cherished items while keeping them visible. We can incorporate glazed doors, glass shelves, and integrated LED lighting for a display unit that works as hard aesthetically as it does practically.
Integrated Media & TV Units

Materials
Materials & finish
We use premium melamine board from Egger and Finsa throughout — industry-leading manufacturers chosen for their quality, durability, and consistency of finish. These materials do not warp, swell, or deteriorate over time the way cheaper alternatives do.
Paint finish
Any colour, any brand. Farrow & Ball, Little Greene or a colour you bring to us. Applied using the same professional spray process we use for all our furniture — smooth, even, and durable.
Worktops
Solid oak worktops are available and give a beautiful warmth to a unit. Oak worktops are oiled on installation and should be re-oiled every few years as needed.
Glazing
Clear, frosted, or reeded glass panels available for cupboard doors and display sections.
Handles
We encourage customers to choose their own hardware — the range available is vast. We will advise on what works with your door style and fit whatever you choose. All hinges and drawer runners are Blum, backed by a lifetime guarantee.
Shelving in Alcoves
For homes with a feature fireplace, we can build into the alcoves on either side of the chimney. These spaces are often awkward sizes, uneven or not square so are unsuitable for off-the-shelf bookcases, therefore made-to-measure shelving is a great solution. This is also a great use of the space and gives you extra storage and makes a lovely feature of a room.

From the depth of the shelving and the shape of the worktop to the choice of handles, doors, lighting and painted finish, every element can be designed to suit the room. We can include curved corners, solid oak worktops, brass handles, soft-close cupboards, glazed doors, subtle lighting or clean handleless storage, depending on the style of your home.
Lighting & Electrics
Integrated lighting
Integrated LED lighting transforms a bookcase from functional to something genuinely special. We can incorporate LED strip lighting along shelves, behind fascia panels, or within display sections — warm white for a cosy ambient feel, or natural white where colour accuracy matters.
Concealed electrics
Existing power sockets and electrics can be integrated seamlessly into the unit so you do not lose their function. Cable management outlets keep leads neat and hidden. If your bookcase will incorporate a TV, we can route HDMI and aerial cables within the structure. See also our media unit page.

Send us photos of the space — the room, the wall, the alcove — and tell us what you have in mind. We will come back with an honest estimate. No site visit needed at this stage.
02 Site visit & design
Happy with the estimate? We visit, measure accurately, and design the piece around the specific space. We discuss every detail — shelf heights, door styles, finish, hardware, lighting. Full written quote follows.
03 Made to measure
Your bookcase is precision-made to your exact specifications using premium Egger and Finsa board. Spray-painted to your chosen colour. Typical lead time: 6–8 weeks from order confirmation.
04 Installation & sign-off
Installed by Daniel or his trusted installation team to the same exacting standard. Daniel then visits every completed job personally to sign it off and make sure you are completely happy.
