Walk-In Fitted Wardrobes and Furniture near Chichester: A Dressing Room Transformation

When our client contacted us about updating her dressing room in Middleton-on-Sea near Chichester, the existing space simply wasn’t working for the way she and her partner lived. The room was filled with freestanding furniture and generic off-the-shelf units which left awkward gaps, wasted storage potential, and made the room feel much smaller than it actually was.
The goal was to create a calm, organised dressing room with 'a sandy beach vibe' using practical storage, full-height fitted wardrobes, and a more luxurious feel throughout the space.
Making Better Use of the Room
One of the biggest advantages of bespoke fitted wardrobes is the ability to use every inch of available space. Unlike standard furniture sizes, built in wardrobes can be designed precisely around the room creating up to 40% more space, allowing for more storage without the room feeling overcrowded.
For this project, we designed a full walk-in wardrobe layout with separate his and hers storage areas, incorporating:
Full-height double wardrobes
Dedicated double hanging sections
Long hanging space
Bespoke drawer units
Additional overhead shelving
Integrated mirror storage
Along the left-hand side of the room, we installed a full-height double wardrobe with double hanging and overhead shelving. Beside this, two custom drawer units were built, each featuring two smaller drawers and three larger drawers for bulkier clothing and accessories.
On the opposite side, a continuous run of built in wardrobes provided a combination of double hanging and long hanging storage, again making full use of the room height with shelving above.
A mirror fitted to the back of one of the wardrobe doors helped add practicality while also making the space feel lighter and more open.
Materials & Finish for the Fitted Wardrobes
The wardrobes were manufactured in a contemporary Sand Beige finish using durable melamine boards throughout. The client chose a clean slab-style door design which keeps the overall look simple and modern while allowing the room itself to feel calm and uncluttered.
To complete the furniture, we used high-quality Blum hinges and drawer runners for a smooth soft-close feel, paired with Hafele bow handles in a zinc alloy finish.
Installation & Project Cost
The furniture for this dressing room was manufactured and installed over approximately seven days by Daniel and his team. Careful planning was important on this project to ensure the wardrobes fitted neatly around the room while maximising every available inch of storage space.
Because all of the furniture was made-to-measure, the final result feels far more integrated than freestanding bedroom furniture. The full-height fitted wardrobes give the room a cleaner and more spacious feel while providing significantly more usable storage.
